What happens underneath our behaviour?

What we didn’t learn in school

Our biology shapes how we see, think and act.

The shift

From behaviour to what sits underneath it.

Behavioural design and psychology work with what people do. Look closely enough, and there is a layer underneath the behaviour nobody had taught me to look for.

Biology sits underneath behaviour. It shapes how we see, think and act – and how much of what we already know we can actually reach.

And sleep is where our capacity is built.

The model · The Iceberg

Where the explanation actually sits.

Story on top, autopilot in the middle, state underneath. Culture tries to fix the top. I start at the bottom.

BehaviourWhat we say and do.
AutopilotBlaming, over-controlling, sarcasm, checking out.
PhysiologySleep and nervous system. Drives the patterns above it.
Night and day

Capacity is built at night and regulated during the day.

Day = regulate capacity Night = build capacity

Sleep builds capacity. The day consumes and regulates it. How well you move through the day depends partly on what you brought into it – and how you manage that capacity once pressure starts to rise.

Two sides of the same mechanism.

Sleep As Foundation, or Capacity Under Pressure.

Two ways in – pick the one that matches where your team is right now.

What I stand for
01

Biology before mindset.

Nobody makes their best decisions when their system is under pressure. We start with physiology.

02

This is basic training.

Not advanced material. The foundation for everything else.

03

Measured, not claimed.

The same questions before and after. We measure what moved – and what didn’t.

04

Evidence matters.

Built from research, experience and what holds up in practice.

“Just that good – credible, grounded, still simple.”

About

I’ve always been fascinated by how our inner state shapes everything else.

Years in UX and behavioural design taught me that environments shape behaviour far more than intentions do. Then my own sleep fell apart, and I learned the rest the hard way.

Since 2018 this has been my full-time work: 3,000+ leaders and employees in engineering, pharma, finance and the public sector.

I live in Peru, run in the mountains, and test everything on myself first. If I cannot make it work in my own every day life, I do not teach it.
